The end of opportunity rover,NASA.

Introduction

NASA's Opportunity rover touched down on Mars Fifteen years ago. When opportunity rover landed in 2004, it was only expected to work for 90 days, But miraculously it worked for more than a decade.

But now officials are saying that the rover could be permanently shutdown due to storm that knocked it out of communication with earth in the summer of 2018

"This could be the end of opportunity rover," principal investigator Steven Squyres told the New York Times on Friday.

Nasa's opportunity

NASA's opportunity rover did its best and gave lot of information about red planet. The opportunity rover helped to plan the scientists to land the MARS Curiosity rover mission. But six months ago Opportunity found itself in the middle of dust storm that the Times called "one of the most ferocious storm on MARS in decades" which blocked its solar panels and it may have proven to be too much for the tiny rover to overcome.
Opportunity received the highest rating of any ongoing Mars mission, including Curiosity. The rover is funded through the end of 2016. It is possible that it could be renewed at the end of the year. In fact, despite its condition.
